The copy I received arrived missing the exam sheet, and now I have to pay $45 to get that separately! DO NOT RENT OR BUY THIS ITEM USED because it is useless without the exam answer sheet that must be mailed in to receive ServSafe certification! Should not even be made available unless sheet is included inside. Very misleading!

A study in manly virtues

This book is a daily dose of inspiration with a focus on Virtue as it was understood and appreciated in the ancient world. While the concept of virtue may seem almost antiquated in the thoughts of some, the authors have made a strong case for its relevance by collecting essays, poems, and letters from great men in history which show how crucial virtue is for developing mature manhood.

In the introduction to the book, the authors make an excellent case for the promotion of manliness, explaining that while some might see it as the opposite of womanhood, it is intended rather to promote the opposite of childhood, and as such has relevance for women as well.

Manvotionals gives us a peek into the hearts of great men such as Benjamin Franklin, Teddy Roosevelt, Walt Whitman, Frederick Douglass, Rudyard Kipling, and ancient voices like Euripides, Aesop and Marcus Aurelius. Through their words we hear what virtues inspired them, and how they focused their lives to become men of renown.

Rather than feeling shamed for not living up to my potential in comparison to these giants, I instead feel desire to achieve and become. How could I not like this book, when it stirs such inspiration?

A must-read for every young man, and a should-read for everyone else.

Full disclosure: I received an advance copy a few weeks ago as a contributor to the AoM site on all things outdoorsy. My 18 year-old son is reading it now after I finished it. Keep a pencil, you'll want to underline and write in the margins. I know it's sacrilege to some bibliophiles, but hey, you paid for it.

The Art of Manliness website is a great resource for men of all ages. It's not about macho...it's about manliness...being a man. Strong, not violent. Wise, not arrogant. Educated, not snobbish. A gentleman, not a man-child. Masculine, not emasculated.

In Manvotionals, Brett and Kate have compiled a nice collection of stories, quotes and other information that will make you think (or rethink) about the leaders of the past who were manly in the best sense. The cowards who "lead" today could take a page from men who told the truth and were more interested in being effective than being important.

Her Boss: Almost miraculously, Alex Rosini was on hand to help Sara pick up the pieces. However having worked for Alex for some time now, she knew he never did anything without expecting something in return. So why was she surprised when he revealed that he was prepared to pay the cost of having her-be it money or marriage. Business or pleasure? Sara wanted Alex so badly, she would have given herself to him with no strings attached. But in order to win Alex, she would have to play his game--and choose her price---. OK, I gave this 4 stars because I like L. Graham's stories. Yes, most of the time her heros are a little cruel, but they always wind up vulnerable in the end. This hero is not cruel as much as he is not comfortable when he is not in control. The heroine is wary at first, then as the story moves along she figures out that she has to fight for his understanding. One of the reasons I like this hero is that he is trying to understand how to reach Sara.

The Trophy Husband is an Excellent read!

Of all of the Lynne Graham books that I have read, I must say that this is one of my favorites. Both of the main characters have living family members (abet not happy). Often you will find that many of the harlequin presents characters are orphans so that was good for a change.
The hero has been in love with the heroine (Sara) for a very long time. The hero recognized that his time was running out as she was soon to be married, so he had to think quickly. He had a private investigator follow Sara's fiancée to dig up any dirt and boy was there dirt to find. The hero was there to comfort the Sara after she found her cousin and fiancée in bed together. The hero suggests that Sara marry him as a way to save face. Through out the book the hero is sooooo jealous of Sara's former fiancée. As you know by the end of the book, all is settled and they live happily ever after

No need to write a backcover or description since previous reviewers have already done that. What can I say, this book is fabulous! In a nutshell heroine finds fiance' and cousin in bed together six weeks before their wedding. She is devastated. Runs in to the waiting (and rather manipulative haha!) arms of the hero and sleeps with him - thereby giving him her prized possession. Oh, I'm sure you know what that is! Hero suggests a marriage of convenience and she agrees. SPOILERS AHOY! What can I say, this book is a totally fast read and extremely entertaining and sweet. The hero was actually in love with the heroine a month after she started working for him! He doesn't reveal this until the end of the book, but you can see it through his actions allthroughout the book. Aw[...] That was why he was rather manipulative and sneaky. You can read the book to see what he did. But that's ok, all in the name of love, hehehe! The only minor irritation I had was that heroine's stupid cousin and ex fiance' doesn't deserve to be helped! Forget those people! But I guess the heroine is just nice. Heck, she got the super prize anyway, right so why begrudge? =P And I want an epilogue, them with kids or something. Sometimes I wish Harlequin novels were longer! Anyhoo, this book is a total keeper and you'll be a fool not to pick this one up. I am totally going to check out all the other Lynne Graham novels. I've also read Bond of Hatred and that's another keeper!

Perfect Mix of Love and Humor!!!

Alice Clayton always has the perfect mix of sexy and silly. I love how her books make me feel and the laughter they induce. Caroline and Simon were likeable and characters like Purina, Spanx and Giggler added some comedic relief to this little morsel. Wallbanger is full of humor but it isn't so much that it distracts from the love story; Clayton mixes just enough angst in to pull the whole thing together for a fabulous, well-rounded reading experience.

Poor Caroline has lost her O. Oh, where did it go you ask? Well, some guy with no skill took it from her and now she is stuck living next to a guy who really knows how to bang the wall. Poor, poor Caroline! Caroline is feisty and I like her. She loves big bands, George Clooney and her cat Clive. (Clive has a little thing for Purina, purrrrrr) She doesn't know it but she really just needs to be banged against the wall a couple of times herself. She seems content to be by herself but she hasn't meant her match...yet.

Their first meeting..

"You don't see me coming across the hall and banging on your door." - Simon

"No, you just bang on my damn wall. We share a bedroom wall. You're right up against me when I'm trying to sleep. Have some common courtesy." - Caroline

"Well, how come you can hear me and I can't hear you? Wait, wait, there's no one banging on your walls, is there?" - Simon

He smirked, and I felt the color drain from my face. I crossed my arms tightly across my chest, and as I looked down, I remembered what I was wearing.

Pink baby doll nightie. What a way to establish credibility.

I have to give props to Simon because he enjoys women of all sizes and shapes; it was a nice vacation from the usual model inspired book ladies. Simon, I don't know where you get the energy to deal with your harem of women (Purina, Spanx and Giggler) but man, what girl wouldn't want a little of that followed by some zucchini bread. Yes, Simon likes Caroline's zucchini bread amongst other things. Simon is confident and he seems to genuinely enjoy giving a woman pleasure. Who am I kidding..he is HOT! Simon isn't really looking for the attachment that comes with seeing one woman but that doesn't mean he can't bang his neighbor...

This was not insta-love and there was no quick roll in the hay; I enjoyed their standoffs, turned friendship turned lovers. Simon pushes Caroline to loosen up; girl has to get that O back. Caroline pushes Simon to want more. Neither was looking for a relationship or to fall in love but sometimes things happen when you least expect it. To me, that is the best kind of love. I think if you look too hard for anything, you end up with something that may not fit like an accidental romance.

I liked the supporting characters and how they ended up with their own accidental love stories;) We all have our types but if you always date the same guys and it never works, maybe you are looking for the wrong things. Wallbanger is a story of true, heart-melting, humorous love. I love Alice Clayton and cannot wait for what she has up her sleeve next.

Oh, and make sure to enjoy the dirty apple pie..

Laugh out loud funny.

I would never have thought that a book called Wallbanger would crack me up so much. I guess that's what I get for judging a book by it's cover. This book is so funny, sexy, cute, ahhhhhh, I loved it! Thanks to Amazon for putting it in my recommended list, and even more thanks to Alice Clayton for writing such an awesome book. Read it!! You will love it!

A MUST HAVE for Italian Food Lovers!

If you have ever wanted to know more about Italian cuisine besides spaghetti and meatballs or lasagna, you have to own this book. When I went through culinary school we were trained classic French mostly, and then I worked under a very talented Italian chef and learned tons. She taught me lessons of patience, timing, and care for food like no other chef I worked for or with. This book reminds me of lessons learned in her kitchen. The recipes are authentic and remind me of my travels throughout Europe. This is a must for any home cook that wants to taste Italy.

Great paper. If love cookbooks or cooking

WOW!!! This book is beyond my descriptive vocabulary. Hundreds of color photos!!! Magnificent recipes. Charming stories. Great paper. If love cookbooks or cooking, "get it--get it--get it"! It will truly thrill your soul. Then set aside some time to read and enjoy it. A half hour a day is a good start, but this delicious book will suck you in and time will fly by. You will have difficulty putting it down. The recipes are ones you can actually prepare, even if you are just starting out in the kitchen. Others are for the seasoned home cooks and even chefs. This is my favorite cookbook of all time. It is heavy for holding.

Wonderful cookbook. Nicely designed with delicious recipies. The photos are wonderful, there are great descriptions of each recipient and frequently a little history. We highly recommend this book if you are looking for some amazing recipies.
